Kotoba Kids

I believe children are a gift to the world.

We all want to do our best to support children as they grow; to help them become confident, independent poeple who can solve problems, build meaninful relationships, and one day, contribute something to this world.

Parents, Caregivers, Teachers, Therapists, Doctors.

We all want the best for our children.

And yet, sometimes things don’t go the way we hoped.

Sometimes, despite everything we know and everything we try, a child continues to struggle. Sometimes wht we thought would help doesn’t help.  Sometimes we don’t understand what is happening.

And then the questions begin.

Am I a good parent?

Am I really a professional if I can’t help this child?

I’m supposed to know what I’m doing. So why don’t I have the answer?

When we don’t have answers, we can easily turn against ourselves, or against one another.

But underneath all of that, I think what we really want is much simpler.

We want to undersatnd what is happening.

We want to know what might help.

And we want to have another chance to try.

To do that, we need curiosity.

We need to keep learning.

We need to listen to different perspetives, take new approaches, refect on what happened, and come back with a little more understanding than we had before.

And I believe we need a community.

A community where we don’t judge one another, and where we don’t have to judge ourselves.

A safe place where we can say

“I don’t know.”

“I tried this, and it didn’t work”

“What do you think might be happening?”

“I never thought about it that way”

“Maybe I’ll try something different next time”

A place where we can learn from one another, support one another, and even find a little humor along the way.

There is no perfect way.

It is about trying, reflecting, learning, and trying again.

It is about helping children grow, and growing alongside them.

And we adults were all children once.

We all have our own histories.

We all carry our own experiences.

We all have a story to tell.

Perhaps what we need is not more people telling us what we shold do.

Perhaps we need more opportunities to listen to one another, to understand ourselves, to understand others, and to become curious about the children in front of us.

Together, we can create an environment where children feel safe rnough to explore, make mistakes, connect, learn, and grow.

Because perhaps that is what children need most of all.

Not perfect adults,

But adults who are willing to keep learning, keep connecting, and keep growing alongside them.

This is Kotoba Kids.

A place to learn

A place to wonder

A place to try again

A place to grow together
